The National Training Agency of Trinidad and Tobago (NTATT), operating under the Ministry of Education (MOE), is the central coordinating body responsible for planning, coordinating and administering the national training system for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), in support of the country’s workforce development.

The NTA is presently seeking a Legal Research Officer to complement the company’s new strategic direction. This person will lend support to the company’s Corporate Legal Secretary. The Candidate:

The position reports to the Corporate Legal Secretary and provides corporate secretarial and legal service support to the National Training Agency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducts research on legal issues relating to the Agency’s operations and prepares written opinions and reports thereon.
• Assists the Corporate Legal Secretary in providing the Agency with advice on laws and acts governing the operations of the Agency.
• Assists in the drafting of legal documents such as contracts, agreements, opinions and briefs, and prepares memoranda, letters and related documents.
• Liaises with external stakeholders to collect information to inform agreements.
• Conducts legal research into the laws of Trinidad and Tobago and other jurisdictions as required.
• Assists with the preparation and production of Legal Department monthly and Board reports.
• Assists with all legal work done by the Corporate Legal Secretary including the documentation of policies and the protection of the Agency’s intellectual property.
• Collects and collates all necessary information for the update of selected Agency publications and prepares and maintains quarterly reports required by the Freedom of Information Act Chapter 22:02.
• Drafts Cabinet/Ministerial notes on legal matters in an accurate, professional and timely manner.
• Records minutes of meetings of committees of the Board of Directors of the Agency.
• Assists with the formulation of recommendations to amend legislation and regulations pertinent to the Agency.
• Represents the Agency as an instructing Attorney in court matters as necessary.
• Any other related duties as required.


• Bachelors of Law Degree (LLB),
• Legal Education Certificate or equivalent,
• Certificate to practice (up-to-date),
• At least one (1) year working in a similar position,
• Considerable knowledge of legal research principles and techniques,
• Knowledge of the laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
